Tim Omaji returns to the production as Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, the bohemian artist whose devotion to the ideals of Truth, Beauty, Freedom and Love anchors the story, having previously played the role in the original Australian season. Performing as Timomatic, he is a four-time platinum recording artist and a former judge on Australia’s Got Talent. His theatre credits include TINA: The Tina Turner Musical, RENT, Pretty Woman and In The Heights, alongside screen roles in Clickbait and La Brea.

Ben Hall joins the cast as The Duke of Monroth, the wealthy aristocrat whose arrival threatens to change the future of the Moulin Rouge club. Hall is recognised for playing Ned Willis on Neighbours from 2016 to 2022, with theatre credits spanning Les Misérables, Pretty Woman and Elvis: A Musical Revolution.

Tyler Chapman takes on the role of Santiago, the Argentinian bohemian and devoted friend to Toulouse-Lautrec and Christian, whose belief in the bohemian ideals of Truth, Beauty, Freedom and Love makes him central to the fight to save the Moulin Rouge. The casting marks Chapman’s professional musical theatre debut.

Rounding out the announcement is Thalia Smith as Nini, one of the Lady M’s, considered the sharpest and most perceptive of the group, whose loyalty to Satine comes with a readiness to say what others won’t. Smith’s stage credits include SIX the Musical, CATS, Beauty and the Beast, Frozen and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Producer Carmen Pavlovic described the announcement as the first glimpse of the new Australian company being assembled for the production.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical demands an extraordinary range of performance skills, and Ben, Tim, Tyler and Thalia are outstanding performers who each bring something uniquely special to these iconic roles. Together, they capture the spirit and passion at the heart of this story. As we build this new Australian company, we’re assembling a cast that will honour everything audiences love about this spectacular production while bringing fresh energy and excitement to the stage for Sydney in 2027.

Casting for the roles of Satine, Christian and Harold Zidler is expected to be announced in coming months. Tickets for the Sydney season are on sale now through to 2 May 2027 via the musical’s official website.
