HoYoverse has detailed the second anniversary update for Zenless Zone Zero, with Version 3.1, titled “The Long Goodbye”, scheduled to launch on 29 July 2026. The update will introduce the game’s first Lumiflux attribute Agent, expand the main story, add a permanent game mode and more. Players will also be able to select a limited S-Rank Agent and their corresponding exclusive W-Engine for free during the version.
Version 3.1’s story sees representatives from New Eridu’s major factions travelling to the island. During these events, the Proxies reunite with Truvia, the heiress of High Ambitions Corp and a former close friend. An incident from their past separated them and left a lasting scar in Pyrois’s memory. The Proxies will also meet Airspace Patrol Department Administrative Director Lindverne Sunbringer and Deputy Administrative Director Sigrid. The chapter will explore Lindverne’s carefree behaviour and the stories surrounding Sigrid, while Remielle Dan returns after being hidden in an En-Nah Gang hideout.
As an S-Rank Anomaly Agent, Remielle is the first playable character to use the Lumiflux attribute. Her Attribute Flux mechanic allows her damage attribute to synchronise with that of the next Agent in the squad. This gives players the option to alter her output by changing teammates to account for an enemy’s weaknesses. Remielle can build resources during combat and enter the Phase Flow state, providing ongoing buffs to the squad without needing to remain on the field. Once her resources are fully charged, she descends and performs an Assist Attack. Lumiflux also has an exclusive reaction known as Refringe, which converts Anomaly Buildup into a final burst of damage. Remielle’s exclusive Signal Search channel will remain available throughout Version 3.1 rather than being restricted to one half of the update.
Sigrid will arrive during the second half of Version 3.1 as an S-Rank Ice Attack Agent. Her combat style centres on the Aerial Patrol Spear Form. Hitting an enemy with an Unbridled Spear skill places her into this form, allowing players to hold Basic Attack to perform alternative attacks while temporarily increasing her CRIT Rate.
Aria, an S-Rank Ether Anomaly Agent, will return during the first half of the version. The second half will introduce an Exclusive Rescreening channel featuring Dialyn, Ukinami Yuzuha and Asaba Harumasa. Players can select one of the three Agents for the rate-up. A corresponding W-Engine Reverberation channel will allow players to select a rate-up W-Engine from the characters’ exclusive equipment. Accumulated Signal Search data will carry across the two rerun channels.
A new permanent mode, “Enigma of the Labyrinth: Operation Bagel”, will send players into a corrupted Hollow to rescue Eous. The incident begins when the Labyrinth Carrot, a piece of equipment created by the Proxy pioneer Joyous, attracts a large Ethereal. Eous is then pulled into the Hollow while carrying the device. During each run, players will collect supplies, strengthen their team and attempt to evacuate within a time limit after securing enough valuable loot. Recovered supplies can be invested into the research station’s infrastructure to improve its capabilities. Enigma of the Labyrinth will follow a seasonal update structure and share weekly progress with Hollow Zero. Each season will offer its own exclusive rewards.
Version 3.1 will also launch the limited-time Fantasy Resort event “Summer Waves Roll In”. The event follows Lucy, Sigrid and Remielle through beachcombing activities and the management of a souvenir shop. Completing the event’s main storyline will unlock Lucy’s Princess on Holiday summer outfit for free.
Four additional outfits will be sold through the in-game shop. These include Vivian’s Iris of the Shore, Sigrid’s Majestic Wavechaser and two outfits for Remielle: Seashade Pas Seul and Moonlight Whispers. Moonlight Whispers includes both veiled and unveiled appearances. Remielle’s two outfits will also be sold together in a bundle with a 30 per cent discount.
Several system changes are planned for the anniversary update, including a new Custom Search mechanic. Players will be able to nominate six S-Rank Agents from a pool containing limited and standard characters.
When a Signal Search produces a non-rate-up S-Rank Agent, the result will come from the player’s selected pool, with each nominated character having an equal chance of appearing. Similar customisation options will be available for the corresponding W-Engine channel and A-Rank Signals. Custom Search selections will remain active over the long term but can be changed at any time.
The existing Proxy Trial system will be replaced by a Beginner’s Guide offering advice on team composition and character enhancement. Dedicated interfaces will also provide level-up and Polychrome acquisition guidance based on the player’s current Inter-Knot level. Progression between Inter-Knot levels 20 and 50 will also be accelerated. Storage management will receive further changes, including batch locking and unlocking for W-Engines, along with revised auto-selection logic on the W-Engine recommendation screen.
During Version 3.1, players will be able to select one limited S-Rank Agent from Jane, Soldier 0 – Anby, Hugo, Trigger or Lucia. They will receive the chosen Agent and that character’s corresponding exclusive W-Engine. Login rewards will also provide 1,600 Polychromes. A second-half check-in event, “The Great En-Nah Giveaway!”, will add 10 Encrypted Master Tapes, bringing the version’s announced Signal Search rewards to a total of 20 pulls.
