Capcom has officially launched its long-awaited sci-fi title, Pragmata, across multiple gaming platforms today. Following an extended development period which first came to public attention alongside Sony Interactive Entertainment’s first announcement of the PlayStation 5, the action-adventure title is now available for players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, the Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
Pragmata is set on a futuristic lunar station that has mysteriously lost all communication with Earth. Players take on the role of a spacefarer named Hugh Williams, who is sent to the moon to investigate the silence. During his mission, he encounters a unique android in the form of a young girl named Diana. After she rescues Hugh from an initial threat, the two form an alliance to navigate the facility and search for a means to return to their home planet.
Gameplay revolves around the cooperative relationship between the two protagonists, featuring a blend of action and puzzle mechanics. Players must use Diana’s hacking abilities to disable or expose the weaknesses of hostile mechanical enemies, allowing Hugh to eliminate them using a variety of firearms. This combat system is put to the test during encounters with a hostile artificial intelligence that currently oversees the station.
Between these encounters, the pair can retreat to a safe zone called the Shelter. This location serves as a hub where players can observe interactions between Hugh and Diana, as well as trade materials found throughout the station for gear upgrades and preparation for larger boss battles.
The game’s producer, Naoto Oyama, expressed his gratitude to the player community for their patience throughout the years of the project’s development:
We’ve been looking forward to this day for a long time. The development team has been working passionately on this project for many years, and the community has been there every step of the way. It may have taken some time, but we feel we’ve created something truly unique and special for you. Thank you so much for your support. We’re so happy everyone can finally experience Hugh and Diana’s unforgettable adventure today.
