Just in time for the autumn school holidays, the mystery comedy Cluedo is scheduled to make its Sydney debut next week, opening at the Theatre Royal Sydney. This stage production is based on the 1985 Paramount Pictures film Clue and draws inspiration from the classic Hasbro board game.
Directed by Luke Joslin, who recently oversaw productions of Grease and In The Heights, the show adapts the familiar whodunnit format into a fast paced comedy thriller. The narrative follows a group of suspicious and eccentric guests as they arrive at Boddy Manor for a dinner party, only for the evening to devolve into a hunt for a killer among them.
The Australian cast features a variety of established stage and screen performers. Grant Piro takes on the role of the butler Wadsworth, appearing alongside Adam Murphy as Colonel Mustard, Genevieve Lemon as Mrs Peacock, and David James as Professor Plum. The suspicious guest list continues with Laurence Boxhall as Reverend Green, Rachael Beck as Mrs White, and Olivia Deeble as Miss Scarlett. The company is completed by Lib Campbell as Yvette, Octavia Barron Martin as the Cook, Joshua Monaghan as Mr Boddy, and Nat Jobe as Bobby.
