Pony Canyon has announced that their upcoming television anime adaptation of Kaiju Girl Caramelise is scheduled to begin broadcasting in July 2026. This announcement is complemented by the reveal of the series’ first main visual (to the left) and a full length trailer (below), providing a first look at the unique romantic comedy that seeks to provide viewers with a blends of high school life and giant monster battle elements.
Based on the manga by Spica Aoki, the story follows Kuroe Akaishi, a socially awkward high school student who suffers from a rare and unexplained condition. Her life becomes complicated when she falls in love with the most popular boy in her class, Arata Minami, as her surging romantic emotions trigger a physical transformation into a massive kaiju known as Harugon.
The newly released visual depicts Kuroe alongside Harugon as the creature roars toward the sky, suggesting a conflict between her secret identity and her desire for a normal life. The accompanying trailer introduces the supporting cast and demonstrates the production’s approach to the kaiju sequences, which utilize a combination of CG and traditional animation to depict the scale of Harugon’s appearances in Tokyo.
The animation is being produced by LIDENFILMS under the direction of Teruyuki Omine. Yuniko Ayana is overseeing the series composition, while Mitomi Nakayama of NUT is handling character designs. The project is being produced by GOOD SMILE FILM.
