Shochiku Anime and the production team behind the romantic comedy anime You and I Are Polar Opposites has confirmed that the series will return for a second season. Revealed during a dedicated stage event at AnimeJapan 2026, the upcoming season is scheduled to begin its broadcast and streaming run on 5 July 2026.
The announcement featured lead voice actors Sayumi Suzushiro, who portrays the energetic Suzuki, and Shogo Sakata, who plays the stoic Tani. To coincide with the reveal, a new announcement trailer was released to the public. This teaser serves as a retrospective of the first season, compiling significant moments between the two protagonists and their various classmates as a lead-in to the new episodes.
Based on the manga series by Kocha Agasawa, the story follows the relationship between two students with contrasting social styles. Suzuki is depicted as a girl who often follows the crowd despite her high energy, while Tani is a quiet individual who is comfortable speaking his mind.
The production continues at studio Lapintrack under the direction of Takayoshi Nagatomo, known for his work on SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary. Teruko Utsumi remains on board for series composition and as the animation producer, with Miyakomako handling the character designs.
While the new season arrives in July, the first season is currently available for global streaming through several platforms depending on where you reside – including Crunchyroll, Bilibili, Medialink, and Animax Broadcasting Korea.
