Fans of the dark fantasy series can expect more animated content following the confirmation that Sentenced to Be a Hero will return for a second season. The announcement was made by Kadokawa during the AnimeJapan 2026 BLUE STAGE event held on 29 March 2026. In addition to the television renewal, the publisher also confirmed that a brand new video game adaptation is currently in development.
To mark the production of the new season, an announcement promotional video and anteaser visual have been shared. The visual focuses on Patausche Kivia, who became a Penal Hero during the events of the first season finale, alongside Xylo Forbartz, Teoritta, and other central characters as they begin their next mission.
Rocket Shokai, the original author behind the Dengeki no Shin Bungei light novel series, shared their personal excitement as a viewer of the animated adaptation:
I can’t contain my excitement thinking about being able to watch the anime staff’s incredible work once again – as a viewer myself, I’m really looking forward to it.
Even now, there’s no doubt that it will exceed my expectations.
To fully express this joy, I think I’ll go treat myself to a special ramen set right now.
