PQube has teamed up with developer Dragonis Games to bring Necrophosis: Full Consciousness to current generation consoles sometime this year. The title will be released on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, packaging the original Necrophosis base game together with a new expansion titled Necrophosis: Subconsciousness.
Both platforms will receive a digital release. In addition, a physical edition will be produced exclusively for the PlayStation 5. This physical version will also come bundled with The Shore, an earlier Lovecraftian release developed by Dragonis Games.
Necrophosis: Full Consciousness is pitched as a first-person psychological horror adventure focused on exploration and puzzle solving. Players take on the role of a memoryless consciousness trapped within a decaying physical vessel. The primary objective is to navigate a deteriorating world to piece together the protagonist’s past and the reasons behind their awakening.
The game leans into cosmic and Lovecraftian horror themes. Players will explore environments consumed by rot while encountering the remnants of forgotten gods and eldritch entities. The narrative is delivered partly through discoverable poems, supported by a minimalist audio design featuring droning ambient sounds, distant groans and whispered dialogue.
Progression relies heavily on solving various environmental puzzles. These challenges require careful observation, with some specific puzzles involving mechanics such as brain detachment and possession. The included Subconsciousness expansion adds new environments, entities and story elements while maintaining the core gameplay loop of exploration and item discovery.
