Almost a decade after its 2017 release, NieR: Automata has officially surpassed 10 million copies sold. To celebrate the milestone, Square Enix released a retrospective video on YouTube, looking back at the acclaimed action-RPG and its expanded universe.
However, the real news dropped in the video’s final moments, which featured a cryptic teaser:
NieR: Automata to be continued...
What this means is currently a complete mystery. While fans are undoubtedly hoping for a brand-new game helmed by series creator Yoko Taro, the message could also point to a new anime project, a novelization, or a spin-off tying into the broader NieR chronology. For now, only time will tell.
