Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially confirmed the development of Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters, which is scheduled to launch in 2026. The upcoming anime football title will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
The sequel intends to expand on the scope of the previous entry by featuring a roster of over 110 playable characters and 22 national teams. This lineup includes original teams and characters alongside those that did not appear in the earlier instalment. To depict the action on the pitch, the developer has included more than 150 unique animated special moves.
A major component of the game involves a mode where players can create their own custom character. This journey allows players to join Tsubasa, forge friendships, and face off against new rivals while attempting to secure a trophy.
Gameplay mechanics have received several updates to increase the tactical depth of matches. New super moves have been integrated across various disciplines, including passing, dribbling, tackling, and blocking. Additionally, a revised system has been introduced for goal scoring opportunities. This mechanic specifically focuses on the interaction between the goalkeeper and the shooter, allowing both sides to counter special shots and blocks using techniques inspired by the original series.
