Studio Interlude has announced that its supernatural horror title, DEVIL’S LIMINAL, is scheduled to exit Early Access and fully launch in late summer 2026. The game, which is currently available on Steam, is a yuri visual novel that integrates Azorean folklore and Faustian legends into a narrative dealing with contemporary issues such as domestic violence and mental health.
The story is set during a single summer in the 2000s within a small Arizona town. Players take on the role of Margo Silva, a young woman attempting to move beyond her upbringing in a trailer park to pursue a college education. Her plans are disrupted by the arrival of a hungry ghost in her dreams and the appearance of two mysterious girls, Bec and Clara, both of whom claim to offer assistance. The plot follows Margo as she navigates a demonic claim on her soul and confronts a legacy of poverty and violence.
The current Early Access version offers approximately 13 hours of gameplay, covering a narrative timeline from 7 June to 16 August. It features two sapphic romance routes, 12 unlockable gallery images, and a visual style defined by retro-inspired 2-bit dithered art. The experience is further accompanied by partial voice acting and an original soundtrack influenced by 1990s alternative music.
Upon its full release, DEVIL’S LIMINAL is expected to expand to approximately 20 hours of content, featuring a script of over 200,000 words. The final version aims to provide players with:
- Over 200 player choices that influence the story’s conclusion.
- Two primary sapphic romance routes and one secret route.
- An expanded gallery featuring 40 images.
- A distinctive art style blending 90s grunge, 1-bit computer graphics, and comic book aesthetics.
Studio Interlude has noted that while the game confronts difficult topics and violent incidents directly, the narrative is handled with empathy for its characters.
