With Free Comic Book Day set to return on 2 May 2026, publishers are beginning to unveil their lineups for the annual event. UDON Entertainment has confirmed they will be participating this year with two offerings based on popular Capcom video game franchises: Mega Man and Street Fighter.
The first title, Mega Man Showdown Special #1, marks UDON’s first venture into the Mega Man Battle Network era of the franchise. Written by Daniel Arseneault and David Oxford, with artwork by Mic Fong and Jeffrey “Chamba” Cruz, the issue focuses on a conflict between Proto Man and Bass. This release is notable for featuring the first comic appearances of these two specific characters. In addition to the main conflict, the issue will include a bonus story set within the digital world of Battle Network.

The second offering is Street Fighter Forever #0. This issue is designed as a prelude to UDON’s next major Street Fighter comic series which is currently scheduled to launch later this year. The narrative follows series protagonist Ryu as he faces martial artists from the past, present, and future. A bonus story featuring Juri and C. Viper is also included. The creative team for this book includes writer David Lumsdon and artists Mike Bowden and Tovio Rogers.
Both titles will be available for free at participating retailers on 2 May 2026. However, collectors should be aware that not every store participating in Free Comic Book Day carries every available title, and availability will depend on local stock orders.
