REMOW Co., Ltd. has officially announced that the psychic battle manga PSYREN is being adapted into a television anime series. Originally written and illustrated by Toshiaki Iwashiro, the manga was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump between 2008 and 2010. Despite concluding 15 years ago, the demand is clearly still there for this to receive a proper anime adaptation. The anime is currently scheduled for broadcast in 2026. While the television adaptation has been confirmed, specific details regarding global streaming platforms will be released at a later date.
Animation production for the series will be managed by SATELIGHT. The core production staff includes Director Katsumi Ono, known for the Symphogear series, with Shin Yoshida handling series composition. Akira Okuma has been appointed as the character designer. The musical score will be a collaborative effort between composers Takashi Ohmama, Tatsuhiko Saiki, and Shu Kanematsu.
The production team has also confirmed the primary voice cast for the series. Rikuya Yasuda has been cast as the protagonist Ageha Yoshina, while Mayuko Kazama will provide the voice for Sakurako Amamiya.
Rikuya Yasuda expressed his immediate enthusiasm upon hearing the news of his casting and his eagerness to portray the lead character in this revival.
I’m Rikuya Yasuda, and I’ll be voicing Ageha Yoshina. I received the news that I passed the audition while I was at home-and I’m glad I was in a place where I could yell out loud, because I really did! Ever since that moment, the excitement of being part of the PSYREN TV anime hasn’t left me, and I’m dying to share it with all of you. Now, almost 15 years after the manga concluded, PSYREN is heating up once again. I’ll be charging full speed ahead alongside Ageha into this wild, psychic world!!
Mayuko Kazama discussed the contrasting nature of her character’s personality and the effort she put into exploring those emotional layers during recording.
I’m Mayuko Kazama, and I’ll be playing the role of Sakurako Amamiya. Amamiya is known for her cool and composed demeanor-so much so that she’s earned the nickname ‘Ice Queen.’ But beneath that calm exterior lies a whirlwind of emotions. During recording, I gave my all to explore her inner world and express her hidden layers as vividly as possible. Please look forward to the broadcast!
Original creator Toshiaki Iwashiro shared his thoughts on the adaptation, noting the significance of the project finally coming to fruition and his personal involvement in the scriptwriting process.
It’s finally happening-PSYREN is getting an anime! I’m overjoyed that I can finally share this news with my parents and family, something I wasn’t able to do about 15 years ago. Several young editors and anime production staff have come up to me with a fiery gleam in their eyes, telling me they loved PSYREN when they were teenagers. Knowing that those same people, now grown, are involved in bringing this anime to life fills me with nothing but gratitude and emotion. I truly hope the excitement and thrill of PSYREN reaches everyone! I also had the opportunity to be involved in the script, and like all of you, I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing Ageha and the rest of the cast come to life-moving and speaking on screen.
The story of PSYREN begins when high school student Ageha Yoshina discovers a mysterious red phone card left in a public telephone booth. The narrative escalates when his childhood friend and classmate, Sakurako Amamiya, vanishes after possessing a similar card. In his attempt to locate her, Ageha investigates a series of nationwide disappearances linked to a secret organization known as “Psyren.” Upon accessing the group, he is pulled into a deadly game that alters the course of his life.
