Housemarque has lifted the lid on Saros during today’s State of Play, confirming a PlayStation 5 launch on Friday 20 March 2026, with enhancements for PS5 Pro. The reveal offered an extended look at exploration, enemies and an evolved combat toolkit, framed around a run-based structure that reshapes the world after each death.
Set on Carcosa, a hostile planet that shifts as a total eclipse nears, Saros follows protagonist Arjun Devraj, portrayed by Rahul Kohli, as he pushes through ruins of a long-lost civilisation. The first look also introduced Nitya Chandran, played by Shunori Ramanathan. Environmental lore arrives through cinematics, audio logs, NPC conversations and collectible Soltari holograms that chart what went wrong on Carcosa.
Combat builds on Housemarque’s signature bullet patterns with a broader set of tools. Arjun’s Soltari suit supports dashing, jumps and melee, while loadouts draw from human and alien arsenals. In the demo trailer, a Phosphorous Shotgun cut through autonomous defenders in towering city ruins. Two headline abilities add new flow to encounters. The Soltari Shield absorbs incoming projectiles when held, banking energy that can be discharged through a Carcosan Power Weapon. That weapon transforms Arjun’s right arm, trading purity for power and offering a customizable, eclipse-fuelled strike that rewards aggressive timing.
Progression weaves in new safety nets and long-term growth. A “Second Chance” revive can lift Arjun after a first death, while permanent upgrades expand the suit and abilities across runs.
