A new two level entertainment destination is set to arrive in the CBD this spring, with Golden Square car park on Lonsdale Street and Chinatown’s Celestial Avenue being transformed into Spiegel Haus Melbourne. Opening in October, the multi level site strives to provide performance, food and nightlife in collaboration with the City of Melbourne, major festivals, and a range of local and international artists and companies.
Designed to host up to 1000 patrons, the precinct comprises a 380 capacity Belgian spiegeltent, a 400 seat black box theatre geared for theatre, comedy and live music, and an open air activation space targeted towards outdoor shows, installations and community events. A rooftop dome bar will top it off with city views, craft beers from Bodriggy Brewing Co., and Lil Lucha, a food residency from the creators of Happy Mexican.
Leading the opening program in the ground floor spiegeltent is Strut & Fret’s Blanc de Blanc Encore, which begins a three month season from Wednesday 29 October 2025. Positioned as a festival hub and hospitality showcase, Spiegel Haus aims to foreground collaborations with iconic Melbourne brands while offering a new summer spot for drinks, music and late night activity. Further programming will be announced ahead of October’s launch.
Commenting on the announcement, Strut & Fret Execu8ve Producer Sarah Stewart shared:
“We’re delighted to finally bring Blanc de Blanc Encore to our home city of Melbourne. Since 2016, the world of Blanc de Blanc has been touring internationally, but this will be the very first time this spectacular ‘Encore’ appears in Melbourne and we can’t wait to see the reaction. Even more exciting, the season marks the launch of Spiegel Haus Melbourne, the city’s newest destination for unforgettable nights out.
Meanwhile, Creative Producer Christopher Mitchell added:
Spiegel Haus is more than just another venue. Its distinctive mix of spaces creates a cultural playground unlike any other in Melbourne. The rooftop lobby bar in particular will be a destination in its own right – a place for sunset drinks, unexpected encounters and nights to remember under the stars.
