The turn-based strategy game The Great Villainess: Strategy of Lily has officially launched on PC via Steam, with a 10% launch week discount available until Thursday, 31 July. Developed by Alliance Arts, the title seeks to blend tactical combat with crowd manipulation and a narrative of revolution, power, and morality. The game is available with English, Japanese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Korean language support.
Set against the backdrop of political turmoil, the game follows Duchess Scarlet, a noble wrongly accused of murdering the Emperor. Forced to flee the Imperial Capital, she allies with Lily, a time-traveling strategist with a talent for psychological warfare. The two set out to incite rebellion and clear Scarlet’s name, using unconventional tactics and a mobile propaganda platform – an airship equipped with live-streaming capabilities.
Gameplay sets out to combine traditional tactical strategy with an emphasis on psychological and crowd control mechanics. Players can deploy streams to disrupt enemy forces: stall them, mislead them, or cut off their resources before launching targeted strikes. Techniques like the Surrender Stream and Capture Stream allow players to either pacify enemy squadrons or convert generals to the rebellion’s cause. Conversely, aggressive tactics can result in permanent losses and shift the personalities of both Lily and Scarlet, altering the course of the narrative.
As the rebellion grows, players can nurture bonds between units to unlock powerful tag-team abilities, customize battle plans to suit different terrains and enemy formations, and determine the scale and morality of each conflict. Defections and executions alike play a key role in shaping Scarlet’s path – and with it, how the rebellion is perceived.
