First Break Labs, a collective of game developers, has released three playable demos for upcoming indie titles as part of the June 2025 Steam Next Fest. These demos – ILA: A Frosty Glide, Particle Hearts, and Baseless – are available to try on Steam until 16 June 2025.
In ILA: A Frosty Glide, players take on the role of ILA, a young witch-in-training who arrives on a snowy island inspired by Scandinavian landscapes. Armed with a skatebroom and a strong sense of purpose, ILA sets off to find her missing cat, Coco. The game combines platforming puzzles and gravity-defying traversal with customisation options and a serene open-world setting, all set to a melodic original soundtrack.
Particle Hearts offers a more abstract and mysterious journey. Set in a world entirely composed of particles, the game tasks players with manipulating this environment to solve puzzles, stay hidden from threats, and uncover a deeper narrative. The demo provides an early look at the unique mechanics and visual style ahead of its full release later in 2025 on Steam, Steam Deck, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
Meanwhile, Baseless challenges players with gravity-defying combat and traversal across a series of planets. In this action-oriented title, shooting also serves as the primary means of movement, as players navigate 360° planetary gravity to fight enemies and uncover a story focused on family. Like Particle Hearts, Baseless is also expected to launch later this year across Steam, Steam Deck, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
