Studio BitDot, in collaboration with publisher UNIKAT Label, has introduced Nano Neighbors, a new online idle game that blends customisation, casual social interaction, and futuristic charm. Officially unveiled during the Women-Led Games Showcase, part of this year’s Summer Game Fest, the game places a personalised digital companion at the edge of your desktop screen.
Set in a near-future world where society has welcomed the presence of android assistants known as NANOs, players take on the role of a Handler. Through this role, they customise their NANO’s appearance, assign them tasks, and gradually upgrade and furnish a small capsule home that sits unobtrusively on their desktop.
Although designed as an idle experience, Nano Neighbors incorporates social elements that extend beyond solo play. Players can visit the capsules of friends, interact with their NANOs, help with tasks, and chat—creating what the developers describe as a compact, living social space. Social hubs also allow players to meet others, connect, and collaborate on growing their NANOs together.
Nano Neighbors is positioned as a laid-back, interactive experience that blends digital companionship with social play. No release date has been announced at this time outside of a 2025 launch window, but you can keep an eye on the game’s Steam page in the interim.
