Publisher PQube and developers Dual Effect have shared a new story teaser trailer for Tormented Souls 2, offering players a glimpse into the unsettling events awaiting protagonist Caroline Walker and her sister Anna. First shown during the Latin American Games Showcase, the ‘Sisterhood’ trailer sets the tone for the sequel to the original cult-classic survival horror game.
Picking up after the events at Wildberger Hospital, Tormented Souls 2 sees Caroline attempting to rebuild a quiet life with Anna. However, their peace is quickly shattered when Anna begins experiencing disturbing visions and compulsively sketches nightmarish scenes—ones that begin to materialise in the real world.
In a bid to save her sister, Caroline travels to Villa Hess, a secluded mountain town in southern Chile. There, a remote convent-turned-clinic offers hope, but beneath its tranquil surface lies a far darker truth. As Caroline searches for answers, she uncovers a new nightmare woven into the town’s mysterious past and a sinister sisterhood with links to her own family’s history.
Players can expect to explore a range of eerie locations, including a decaying shopping mall, an abandoned school, and a convent hiding ancient secrets. A core gameplay mechanic will allow players to switch between alternate realities—reshaping the present by altering the past to navigate new paths through the horrors ahead.
Combat remains central to survival, with an arsenal of improvised weapons—such as a modified nail gun and chainsaw—available for crafting and use. A quick-select feature will support dynamic weapon switching during tense encounters. Mind-bending puzzles also return, challenging players to examine and combine items, solve environmental riddles, and uncover hidden truths.
Caroline will face new, grotesque enemies in her search for Anna, from agile, blade-wielding monstrosities to heavily armoured foes. Along the way, she will encounter others trapped in Villa Hess, each hiding motives and secrets that shape the unfolding narrative.
Players will be able to choose between traditional fixed-camera gameplay with tank controls and limited saves, or an assisted mode offering a more modernised and accessible experience.
A Steam demo for Tormented Souls 2 is currently available, featuring the opening hour of the game. It begins with the sisters’ arrival at the mountain facility under the guidance of Caroline’s trusted psychiatrist, Isabella. Welcomed by Sister Angelica, the pair settle into their quarters—but during the night, Anna vanishes.
Caroline wakes to the sounds of screams and rushes to find her sister being taken by members of the convent. She confronts the matriarch, Mother Lucia, who reveals plans to exploit the sisters to continue their grandfather Noah’s twisted legacy. Knocked unconscious, Caroline awakens in the infirmary, where her search begins amid claustrophobic corridors and encroaching evil.
Tormented Souls 2 is set for release in late 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.com.
