Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo, the self-described ‘yoyovania’ from PM Studios and Pocket Trap, is now available on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Players are invited to step into the wings of Pippit, a determined bat whose only hope of rescuing his auntie – and restoring the Pipistrello family legacy – rests in mastering a rather unconventional weapon: a cursed yoyo.
Set against a backdrop of neon-lit city streets and looming corporate towers, Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo fuses classic top-down action-adventure gameplay with pixel art visuals and modern design sensibilities. Pippit’s journey is anything but straightforward; as players venture through crime-riddled underbellies and high-rise puzzles, the yoyo proves to be both a nimble tool and a formidable weapon. With over 40 equippable badges and 20 passive upgrades to discover, players can tailor their approach – whether that means swinging across chasms, toppling crime bosses, or simply revelling in the game’s blend of retro style and contemporary challenge.
Those curious for a glimpse into Pippit’s world can check out the new launch trailer (above), which showcases everything from dramatic rooftop leaps to encounters with the city’s more unsavoury residents.

For fans of video game music, the game’s soundtrack is getting a special treatment of its own. Pre-orders are now open for the official vinyl release through iam8bit, featuring the energetic work of Leonardo Lima (known for Dodgeball Academia and Fall Guys), Henrique Lorenzi (Pocket Trap’s programmer and sound designer), and a new track from legendary composer Yoko Shimomura, whose credits include the Kingdom Hearts and Street Fighter II series. This vinyl edition, sold separately from the game, is expected to ship later in the year and promises to be a standout for collectors and music enthusiasts alike.
