Everdeep Aurora, the upcoming 2D platformer from Nautilus Games and Ysbryd Games, is inviting players to discover a mysterious underground mansion in a demo to be made available as part of Steam Next Fest. Scheduled to launch on Windows PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch in Q3 2025, the game offers a blend of solitude, discovery, and hope set in a retro-inspired world.
The story follows Shell, a young cat separated from her mother after a meteor shower devastates the surface world. Players guide Shell on a journey through the depths of the Everdeep, tunnelling through dense, procedurally generated rock in search of family and answers. Along the way, players encounter a variety of inhabitants, take on quests to earn their friendship, and enjoy a soundtrack filled with memorable theme tunes that bring each biome to life.
The new mansion biome adds another layer to Everdeep Aurora’s world, providing fresh mysteries and environments to explore. Key characters, such as Ribbert and Remulus, help guide Shell by offering advice, upgrades, and new tools. With a limited colour palette and pixel art reminiscent of 1980s consoles, the game sets out to combine nostalgia with smooth animations and seamless transitions between each unique biome.
