A twisted fusion of theology, politics, and high-stakes deception is coming to consoles this spring. Shuten Order, a new multi-genre adventure game from DMM GAMES and Tookyo Games, will release worldwide on 5 September 2025. Marking the latest creation from Kazutaka Kodaka, most notably the creator of the Danganronpa series, the game seeks to blend multiple genres into a single narrative-driven experience that challenges players to uncover the truth behind a divine murder. Spike Chunsoft is set to publish Shuten Order on the Nintendo Switch in North America and Europe, and on PC via Steam worldwide. Pre-orders are now live.
Set in a dystopian world teetering on the edge of apocalypse, the game opens with the death of the enigmatic Founder of a doomsday cult-turned-state known as the Shuten Order. Moments later, that same Founder is resurrected in an incomplete body, bereft of memories and given just four days to solve their own murder. To do so, they must navigate the treacherous ranks of their former followers, now high-ranking government ministers, each of whom could be the killer.
With five different suspects and five genre-shifting paths, players will experience everything from classic detective investigations and 3D escape room puzzles to stealth horror and even a twisted romance simulation. Each narrative branch is shaped by which minister the player chooses to investigate, ensuring no two playthroughs unfold the same way.
To commemorate the launch, a Nintendo Switch-exclusive pre-order bonus will include a digital novel prequel, Before the Murders – case: Manji Fushicho, exploring the early days of one of the game’s most brutal enforcers.
Meet the Key Characters

Rei Shimobe
The resurrected protagonist. Once the revered Founder of the Shuten Order, Rei returns in a temporary body with no memory of their past and only four days to solve their own murder. Disguised as a detective, Rei’s mission is as personal as it is world-shaping.

Himeru
A self-proclaimed angel and divine messenger. Impulsive and hot-headed, she drives Rei forward, despite her open hostility toward the Shuten Order and its teachings.

Mikotoru
The second self-declared angel. Measured and observant, Mikotoru provides Rei with calm, calculated guidance—but is curiously evasive when questions get too close to the truth.

Kishiru Inugami
Minister of Justice. Known as the “Ghost White Arbitrator,” this eccentric legal mind often appears aloof but is razor-sharp in resolving disputes. His casual drug use and chaotic logic belie a deeply strategic intellect.

Yugen Ushitora
Minister of Health and director of the Shuten General Hospital. Called the “Gatekeeper to the Afterlife,” Ushitora is a capable and unnervingly thorough doctor whose affable demeanour masks an obsessive nature—particularly regarding his sister.

Teko Ion
Minister of Science and national tech architect. Dubbed the “Prodigy,” Ion may lack charm, but his intellect is unmatched. He speaks little but oversees the very systems upon which Shuten’s technological supremacy rests.

Honoka Kokushikan
Minister of Education. Shrouded in mystery, Honoka is known as the “Conjurer of Words,” expertly manipulating public perception. Rumours swirl about her ambitions to rise as the next Founder.

Manji Fushicho
Minister of Security. A relentless enforcer dubbed the “Queen of Heretic Hunting,” Fushicho is feared and revered in equal measure. Though short-tempered and unforgiving, her loyalty to Shuten is unquestionable.
