HoYoverse has announced that Version 1.7 of Zenless Zone Zero, titled Bury Your Tears with the Past, will be released on 23 April 2025. This update marks the conclusion of the game’s first season, bringing the storyline surrounding the Sacrifice crisis to its climax as Proxies uncover the truth behind key events – and sets the stage for the next wave of content.
Set against the backdrop of growing tensions in New Eridu, a new character — a Void Hunter-rank special investigator dispatched by the Mayor — will assist players in navigating the escalating conflict between the factions Mockingbird and TOPS. This instalment will see Proxies infiltrate enemy territory in search of the Sacrifice Core and uncover the history connecting Vivian to old associates and the Exaltists’ wider conspiracy.
Among the new playable characters are two S-Rank Agents from Mockingbird. Vivian, an Ether Anomaly Agent, employs a combination of parasol and rapier in battle, offering fluid transitions between ground and aerial combat. Her Featherbloom Basic Attack increases Anomaly damage and enhances synergy with allied EX Special Attacks to boost Corruption damage.
Hugo, an Ice Attack Agent, uses a suitcase that transforms into a scythe to perform sweeping area attacks. He can activate the Totalize effect when striking stunned enemies, scaling his damage with their remaining stun duration. They are joined by Robin, an agile Bangboo companion who uses cards with varied effects to assist in battle. If you need to catch up on missed characters, Jane (Physical Anomaly) and Lighter (Fire Stun) will also return via rerun banners.
Version 1.7 introduces several in-game events. In Say It With Flowers, players manage a flower shop, designing arrangements for customers. Successful commissions unlock permanent floral design gameplay for the Quality Time mode and earn rewards including the A-Rank Bangboo Overtimeboo. For those seeking a more competitive experience, Bangboo Bash returns with a ranked mode, featuring obstacle and survival challenges. High-performing players can earn exclusive titles, Polychromes, and other event-specific items.
