The Pokémon Company International, in collaboration with Nintendo, has unveiled new information about the upcoming title Pokémon Legends: Z-A during the latest Nintendo Direct. The presentation introduced a new gameplay feature titled the Z-A Royale, showcased in a newly released trailer.
Set in Lumiose City, the Z-A Royale is a nightly competition that unfolds within designated battle zones marked by red holographic borders. These zones appear after dusk and remain active until dawn, forming the stage for a high-stakes challenge in which Trainers begin at Rank Z and compete to reach Rank A. Those who attain the highest rank may be granted one in-game wish.
Throughout the competition, players will face off against both rivals and allies, including characters such as Urbain and Taunie. The game hopes to also encourage strategic planning, as surprise attacks and tactical retreats from higher-ranked opponents can influence the outcome of a battle.
Outside of these battles, players can explore wild zones during the daytime, catching and training Pokémon to prepare for evening competitions. Success in the Z-A Royale will depend on how well players manage their time and strategy between day and night cycles.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch family of systems in late 2025.
