HoYoverse has announced that Version 3.2 of Honkai: Star Rail, titled Through the Petals in the Land of Repose, will launch on 9 April 2025. This update introduces new content to the ongoing Flame-Chase Journey storyline and brings with it a range of in-game events to celebrate the game’s upcoming two-year anniversary.
In this new chapter, Trailblazers will join forces with the Chrysos Heirs to uncover political schemes and survival threats surrounding the forgotten city-state of Styxia. The narrative continues to explore the aftermath of the Death Titan Thanatos’ disappearance and the fall of Oronyx, as the Trailblazers follow Castorice to Styxia, a sunken ruin haunted by spirits and the remnants of colossal dragons. Central to this storyline is a confrontation with Pollux, a powerful enemy that manipulates HP values and requires precise health management to defeat.
Internally, the Flame-Chase Journey faces additional tension. Okhema’s Council of Elders moves to halt the expedition via council vote, while the scholar Anaxa—sustained by the Coreflame of Cerces—engages in questionable dealings with the council, adding complexity to the expedition’s political stakes.
Version 3.2 introduces two new 5-star characters: Castorice (Remembrance) and Anaxa (Erudition). Castorice is a Chrysos Heir and the daughter of the River of Souls, cursed with the Touch of Death. Her combat style centres around a spectral dragon called Netherwing, which appears during her Ultimate, sacrificing its own HP to damage enemies and shield allies. One of her unique mechanics allows fallen allies to remain in a near-death state with the potential to return to battle, even if Castorice is not present in the active team.
Anaxa, another 5-star character joining this update, is a scholar from the Grove of Epiphany and founder of the Nousporism. Deeply affected by a catastrophic black tide, Anaxa applies random Weaknesses to enemies during combat. Upon reaching a set number of Weakness stacks, he triggers a special state that enhances his damage output and allows a follow-up Skill Attack. His Ultimate applies Sublimation, instantly applying multiple Weaknesses across all enemies.
Players can also expect the return of several previously featured characters. The first half of Version 3.2 includes a Warp event featuring reruns of Fugue, Jiaoqiu, and Acheron. In the second half, Dr. Ratio will make a return. The development team also revealed that in Version 3.4, balance adjustments will be made to characters including Silver Wolf, Blade, Kafka, and Jingliu, with further details to be shared in the future.
In celebration of Honkai: Star Rail‘s second anniversary, the update will feature several events and rewards. The “Festive Gifts” event will allow players to earn 20 free pulls through daily log-ins. On 26 April, players will receive a commemorative in-game card and 1,600 Stellar Jades. They will also be able to claim a free 5-star character, choosing between Ruan Mei or Luocha – which is a boon to those who don’t have either character, but may be a little disappointing for those who have pulled them prior.
Additional activities include the Seal Slammers mini-game, where players engage in seal-based competitions against their Chrysos Heir allies, and the Star Rail WORLD event, which tasks players with managing a cosmic gala by raising funds, recruiting characters, and expanding the festivities. Also aligned with the anniversary, the Honkai: Star Rail Concert will be held at the SPD Bank Oriental Sports Center from 1 to 3 May 2025. A global livestream of the performance is scheduled for 3 May, while additional screenings and offline activities will take place in select cities throughout May. Attendees can expect merchandise giveaways and themed interactions as part of the anniversary celebrations.
