Twelve years after the original Blade & Soul debuted in Korea, NC America has launched Blade & Soul NEO, a modern remaster of the MMORPG, on PC across North America, South America, and Europe. The game is available for free via the PURPLE platform.
Blade & Soul NEO is a reimagining of the original wuxia-inspired title, featuring updated graphics, a fully preserved storyline, Infinite Windwalk for exploration, a refined combat system, and an upgraded character creation tool.
To mark the release, NC America has also introduced rewards for both new and existing players. Those who participated in the pre-registration event can now access the Pre-Registration Package. New players can redeem the package by creating an account at Blade & Soul‘s official website and entering the code “THANKYOU” in their profile. Meanwhile, players already subscribed to Blade & Soul NEO newsletters will receive a serial code to unlock the same rewards. Additionally, all players who log in to the game will receive special login rewards.
Blade & Soul NEO invites players to experience a modern retelling of the original story, following a hero seeking to restore honour to their fallen clan. The narrative begins with players joining the Hongmoon Clan under Master Hong, only to witness its destruction at the hands of Jinsoyun and her allies. Surviving the attack, players set out on an adventure of revenge and discovery, either solo or with others.
At launch, players can choose from four playable races—the Jin, Gon, Lyn, and Yun—and seven classes: Assassin, Blade Dancer, Blade Master, Destroyer, Force Master, Kung Fu Master, and Summoner.
As with many similar situated games, Blade & Soul NEO for better or worse includes a Battle Pass system. Players can opt for either a free or premium pass, with the Season 1 Battle Pass available for 1,500 Divine Gems (approximately USD $15). The premium Battle Pass provides exclusive consumables to support story progression and additional benefits when the Plus track is enabled.
