With the in-game IAE 2954 event now underway in Star Citizen, closely following the CitizenCon promotions a short while back, Cloud Imperium Games is offering two weeks of free-fly (22 Nov – 5 December) to all players, and what is likely to be a line-up of ships unveiled as the weeks progress. The first of these ships has been introduced, a new “Starter Ship” by Crusader Industries, dubbed the Crusader Intrepid.
This is a single-seat starship which is designed for short-range cargo runs and courier jobs, and true to the starter ship descriptor, is designed to be cheap (both in-game and pledge wise) and start players adventuring in “The ‘Verse”. The ship boasts an 8 SCU cargo hold, a size 4 weapon hardpoint and twin missiles, and a small interior which includes a living space.
The Crusader Intrepid is available as a standalone ship for $71.50 USD with 10 years of insurance, and $66.00 USD warbond. A warbond starter pack which includes a ‘fusion paint’, a digital download of Star Citizen, 20,000 UEC and Lifetime Instaance is also available for $74.80 USD.

In development by Cloud Imperium Games and their studios across North America and Europe, Star Citizen is being helmed by Wing Commander (1990s) creator Chris Roberts. The game has currently been in a long-term alpha phase with no confirmed release date. Despite this, the studio has raised significant sums of money through on-going crowdfunding. Please keep in mind should you decide to purchase towards Star Citizen, that this is an incomplete project and that you are pledging towards an extended crowdfunding campaign with no 100% guarantee of a finished product.
