Australian musical producer Crossroads Live Australia has commenced ticket sales for the final performances of Sister Act the Musical in Brisbane, with the production set to debut at the QPAC Lyric Theatre in February 2025 and run for a limited season. The musical, adapted from the iconic 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg, is set to tour the country across 2024 and 2025, with Brisbane to be the third stop following Sydney and Melbourne, with Adelaide and Perth seasons to follow.
Sister Act features original music by Tony and eight-time Oscar award-winner Alan Menken (Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Enchanted), blending Motown, soul, and disco influences. The musical revisits the story of Deloris Van Cartier, a disco diva who hides in a convent after witnessing a crime. While helping a struggling choir find their voices, Deloris undergoes her own transformation in this heartwarming tale.
The Australian cast of Sister Act the Musical includes Casey Donovan in the lead role of Deloris Van Cartier. Joining Donovan are Genevieve Lemon as Mother Superior and Rhonda Burchmore as Sister Mary Lazarus – among other members of the principal and ensemble cast.
