HoYoverse has announced that Zenless Zone Zero will receive its Version 1.3 release, titled Virtual Revenge, on 6 November 2024. This update brings new gameplay elements and the continuation of the game’s storyline, including a special mission with Section 6 and activities celebrating Settlement Days in the Outer Ring.
The main story expansion sees players, known as Proxies, joining forces with Tsukishiro Yanagi from Section 6 on a confidential mission assigned by the Hollow Investigative Association. Lighter, a character from the Sons of Calydon, will also feature prominently, providing a celebratory atmosphere for players to enjoy in the Outer Ring as they participate in the Settlement Days event. This version also includes new locations, such as HAND Headquarters and Sān-Z STUDIO at Lumina Square.
Version 1.3 introduces two notable S-level characters. Yanagi, Deputy Chief of Section 6, wields electric-based abilities and has a powerful Ex Special Attack, allowing her to accumulate Anomaly Buildup and enhance team-wide Disorder damage. Lighter, a Fire – Stun Agent and celebrated member of the Sons of Calydon, uses his melee skills to build Morale and stun opponents, with abilities that increase in power as his Morale gauge fills. Additionally, new A-level Bangboo – Bangboo Baddieboo and Knightboo – join the roster.
Additional gameplay opportunities being introduced include:
The Mystery of Arpeggio Fault: A roguelike mode with five chapters where players encounter procedurally generated environments and resources, rewarding them with items including the new Knightboo character.
Simulated Battle Trial: This battle tower mode allows players to test their combat skills against increasingly difficult enemies, offering rewards such as Polychromes and Badges.
Other additions include optimisations to the Compendium interface, character levelling systems, and further customisation options for the player’s space on the second floor of Random Play. Special events, such as Virtual Battlefield Mayhem and When Sandwiches Come A Knockin’, will also provide players with in-game rewards.
