Something a little bit different for the Japanese multimedia franchise, Toei Animation and Steve Aoki’s fashion label Dim Mak has today confirmed they are teaming up to present the One Piece Spring Summer 2025 Collection at New York Fashion Week, as part of the ongoing 25th anniversary celebration of the anime series.
Inspired by Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece and its current Egghead arc, the collection is set to feature designs based on iconic characters such as Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat crew. The runway show, set for September 2024, seeks to offer an immersive experience, blending fashion with imagery from the anime. A special runway event aims to offer invited guests an immersive experience, integrating visuals and elements from the series.
Lisa Yamatoya, Senior Director of Global Marketing for Toei Animation Inc., shared her excitement for the collaboration:
We’re thrilled to partner with Dim Mak to bring this special 25th anniversary collaboration and first-ever One Piece runway collection to New York Fashion Week. The year is not over, and we have more in store for fans during our One Piece 25th anniversary celebration!
First airing in Japan in October 1999, the anime series One Piece, based on Eiichiro Oda’s top-selling manga, follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew as they seek the legendary treasure “One Piece.” Spanning 25 years, the franchise has become a mainstream work of the global anime and pop culture scene, with numerous films, games, merchandise, and more to its name.
