Following the game’s original Nintendo Switch exclusive console release in late-2023, Square Enix has confirmed that Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince will be available on the PC (via Steam) and iOS/Android mobile devices on 11 September 2024. Similar to other Square Enix ports, these releases feature both the original base game, and all previously released DLC from the original release. This DLC includes:
The Mole Hole: A special dungeon where players can scout previously befriended monsters. This dungeon helps players easily reunite with monsters that appear only during specific seasons or weather conditions, or those obtainable only through synthesis.
Coach Joe’s Dungeon Gym: Randomly generated dungeons where players can battle powerful monsters.
Treasure Trunks: A mysterious treasure chest that can be opened once per hour, offering players various rewards and helpful items.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince follows the story of Psaro, a demon prince cursed to be unable to harm monsters. To navigate his cursed fate, Psaro becomes a Monster Wrangler, recruiting and battling alongside a variety of monsters in the fantasy world of Nadiria. The game’s environment dynamically changes with the seasons, cycling through Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. These seasonal changes alter the landscape and introduce different monsters unique to each season.
A key feature of the game is the evolved synthesis system, allowing players to create new monsters by combining those in their current collection. This system supports experimentation, enabling players to unlock over 500 monsters, including familiar creatures from the franchise, dark lords, and entirely new beings.
Additionally, the Quickfire Contest mode offers a single-player challenge where participants engage in 30 consecutive automatic speed matches.
