Badass Mongoose has announced Helix: Descent N Ascent, an atmospheric adventure game scheduled for release in 2025 on PC and Nintendo Switch. In Helix: Descent N Ascent, players embark on a journey through the forgotten depths of an ancient world, exploring at their own pace in a non-linear adventure. The game combines abilities to unlock puzzles and reveal hidden secrets, all within a visually unique narrative supported by an atmospheric soundtrack.
Players awaken in a world of contrasts, diving into a cryptic adventure to unearth secrets, investigate the fate of a lost civilization, collect artifacts, and respond to a haunting call which beckons to you from deep within. The game explores themes of identity, solitude, and emotions, inviting players to confront their perspectives through an immersive adventure.
Helix: Descent N Ascent features a responsive world where players’ unique abilities allow for meaningful interaction with surroundings. By meticulously observing and experimenting, players can decode numerous puzzles, bringing them closer to uncovering the world’s truths and realizing their destiny. Additionally, while the game only grants you access to five abilities, you’ll progressively obtain 25 distinctive ways to use them, allowing you to navigate through the melancholic realm through varied non-violent means.
The narrative is enriched by a 4K black and white artistic style, 2D living scenery, evocative paintings, and powerful atmospheric music. Influenced by 80s black and white indie comics, 90s manga, and Franco-Belgian comics of the 70s, the monochrome imagery symbolizes the duality of light and darkness.
