Deborah Conway and Darren Coggan Celebrate Carole King and James Taylor in National Concert Tour

For one-night only events in several concert halls and music venues across Australia, Deborah Conway and Darren Coggan will join forces with a range of other Australian musicians to celebrate the iconic musical partnership of Carole King and James Taylor, in addition to the profound impact and friendship shared between two of the most influential singer-songwriters of their generation.

The tour, dubbed The Music of Carole King & James Taylor, is set to commence in Sydney on 19 July 2024 at the State Theatre in Sydney, followed by performances in Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, and finally capping things off in Melbourne. More information about the venues and dates can be found below:

The concert will feature a selection of King and Taylor’s most beloved hits. From Carole King’s groundbreaking album Tapestry to her early collaborations with Gerry Goffin like “Up on the Roof”, and James Taylor’s classics such as “Fire and Rain”, “How Sweet it is (to be loved by you)”, “Carolina in my Mind”, and “Shower the People”.

Throughout the event, Conway and Coggan will share insights into the long-lasting friendship of these music legends, illustrating how they have profoundly influenced each other’s lives and careers.

Reflecting on her connection to King’s music, Conway stated that she has felt an intrinsic link to Tapestry since purchasing it in 1971:

I bought a copy of Tapestry in 1971. I remember going down the street with a couple of dollars clutched in my hand and handing them over at the local record store. I listened intently, I knew every word, every melody & counter melody, and 53 years later it has stood the test of time with effortless grace.

Similarly, Coggan expressed their deep affinity for Taylor’s music:

Taylor’s baritone is so comforting, familiar, warm and friendly, but it is so much more than the voice. He is a superb storyteller whose songs are enduringly relevant and take you on a journey, in a very personal way, and I cannot wait to do just that with our audiences.

Tickets for The Music of Carole King & James Taylor will commence sale on Friday 26 April 2024. To join the waitlist for the earliest access to tickets and to find out specific booking information for your state, visit the show’s official website.
