Team Ninja’s first collaboration with the publisher since Nioh 2, Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially released the new open-world action RPG Rise of the Ronin as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. The game is now available to purchase either physically from select video game retailers, or directly via the PlayStation Store.
Rise of the Ronin see’s players set out on an adventure through 19th Century Japan. The narrative begins after three centuries of the Tokugawa Shogunate’s reign, the Black Ships of the West descend upon the nation’s borders and the country falls into a state of turmoil. Amidst the chaos of war, disease and political unrest, a nameless warrior forges their path, holding the very fate of Japan in their hands.
In Rise of the Ronin, see’s players take on the role of that nameless warrior. The game strives to deliver a combat system that is designed to be both deep and accessible, catering to various playstyles. Players will navigate a story that changes based on their choices, including the characters they decide to ally with. The game aims to offer an authentic experience of the Bakumatsu period, exploring the complexities of a time when the traditional ways of the Shogunate were coming to an end, and Japan was opening up to the Western world.
