Phoenixx and AQUASTYLE have announced the future release of their roguelike RPG, Touhou Genso Wanderer -FORESIGHT-, set to launch on PC via Steam on 15 May 2024.
In Touhou Genso Wanderer -FORESIGHT-, players will navigate the aftermath of a defeat that leaves Reimu Hakurei unconscious and without memories at the desolated Hakurei Shrine. Assisted by Marisa Kirisame, another heroine from the Touhou series, players embark on a journey to unravel the mysteries that led to Gensokyo’s current state and to thwart the unknown forces threatening its existence.
The game offers a selection of over 60 Touhou characters, each bringing unique abilities to the exploration of dungeons in search of resources to restore the Hakurei Shrine. The adventure is filled with a variety of challenges, including battles against fairies, vampires, and supernatural shapeshifters. Players must strategically manage their team, employing both melee and ranged Danmaku attacks, and making use of over 20 different spells.
Players must ration rice balls and green tea to teammates to manage mana supplies, and keep an eye on Reimu’s stamina levels — she’ll receive damage over time when her levels reach zero. Advance through dungeons enacting spells to illuminate unexplored map tiles, or risk triggering traps that stun, cause blindness, spread poison among team members, or even disarm equipped gear.
The experience is enriched with a voice cast and soundtrack by Tatsuyuki Toyota, known for his work on the Super Robot Wars series. Touhou Genso Wanderer -FORESIGHT- promises a return to roguelike traditions, blending intricate dungeon crawling with a compelling narrative.
