Cyberpunk 2077 Follow-up Codenamed ‘Project Orion’ In Development at CD Projekt RED

Hopefully to not come anywhere near as close as the ill-fated original release of Cyberpunk 2077 on last generation platforms, CD Projekt RED has announced that the anticipated follow-up to this game is actively in development – with new additions being made to the game’s creative team, which is being spearheaded by the US and Canada-based CD Projekt RED North America.

The project is in the early stages of development and is led by a group of studio veterans who previously contributed to Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion, Phantom Liberty. This includes Gabriel Amatangelo as Game Director, Paweł Sasko as Associate Game Director, Igor Sarzyński as Creative Director, Andrzej Stopa as Cinematic Director, Kacper Niepokólczycki as Environment Art Director, Sarah Grümmer as Acting Lead Quest Designer, and Kacper Kościeński as Engineering Director. These individuals are part of a growing team based out of the newly established CDPR studio in Boston, Massachusetts.

To bolster the development of Project Orion, CD PROJEKT RED has welcomed several new additions to the game’s team and studio. Dan Hernberg, with a background as Head of Production at Amazon Games and contributions to titles such as New World, Apex Legends, and Diablo III, joins as Executive Producer. Ryan Barnard, known for his roles at Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft, as well as IO Interactive, takes on the role of Design Director. Alan Villani, with experience as VP of Technology at WB Games and involvement in the Mortal Kombat series, joins as Engineering Director.

Adding to the narrative depth of the project are Anna Megill, an award-winning game writer with credits including Control and Dishonored: Death of The Outsider, as Lead Writer, and Alexander Freed, a New York Times bestselling novelist and experienced game writer, to further enhance the storytelling.

As Project Orion progresses through its early development phase, CD PROJEKT RED North America is actively recruiting for a variety of positions across its Boston and Vancouver studios. Those interested are encouraged to keep an eye out on the CD PROJEKT RED jobs website.
