While Nintendo has the ink, the PlayStation has the foam! Square Enix has today released their new family-friendly 4v4 Foam Party Shooter FOAMSTARS to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, with the game making its debut exclusively via PlayStation Plus for its first month of service. This offer is available from today until 4 March2024, and those who redeem the game during this period will retain it in their PlayStation Plus library, with the ability to play as long as their subscription remains active.
Players will commence straight into FOAMSTARS’ first season, titled ‘Starry Pop’, which introduces Ranked Party events including the solo-focused Lonestar and the team-oriented Tribe-Vibe, alongside Extreme Party modes like the All Mel T Party and Invisible Party, offering unique gameplay challenges. Additionally, the Happy FriYAY Party serves as a casual, weekend-only event allowing players to preview next season’s character, Coiff Guy, in a non-competitive setting.
Looking ahead, FOAMSTARS plans to enrich the player experience with free themed seasonal updates throughout the year. Each season, lasting approximately five weeks, will introduce a new character, maps, events, and cosmetics. As with many such games however, progression will be dictated through a Season Pass system, designed to reward players with experience points for completing battles, maps and challenges – while encouraging them to receive extra rewards by buying a Premium Season Pass for special characters and cosmetics.
From 5 March 2024, FOAMSTARS will be purchasable via the PlayStation Store. But regardless of the way you acquire it, a PlayStation Plus subscription is required to access online play.
