What started as a Melbourne exclusive Australian premiere is headed cross-country, with Australian theatrical producer Michael Cassel Group confirming that & Juliet will be headed to Perth in December 2023, followed by a Sydney season in February 2024. These are the only two additional seasons confirmed as of writing, but more may very well be yet to come.
Many of the show’s Melbourne lead cast members will be returning for these subsequent seasons, including Lorinda May Merrypor as Juliet, Rob Mills as William Shakespeare, Amy Lehpamer as Shakespeare’s wife Anne, Blake Appelqvist as Romeo, Casey Donovan as Angélique, Hayden Tee as Lance, Jesse Dutlow as May and Yashith Fernando as Francois.
The Perth season will take place at the Crown Theatre for a six week stint starting in December, while the Sydney season will be hosted at the Lyric Theatre, starting 27 February 2024 and concluding 28 April 2024. Pre-sale tickets for both seasons will be available from 25 September, with a waitlist available via the show’s official website. For those who opt out of signing up for the waitlist, general public ticket sales will commence 29 September.
Commenting on the announcement of the Sydney season specifically, Australian producer Michael Cassel shared the following musing:
If there were ever a show and a city that were made for each other it is Sydney and & JULIET and I am thrilled we are finally bringing them together. This show that celebrates joy, love, diversity and taking chances are the same things that inspire and drive the people of Sydney and we can’t wait to share it with them. & JULIET was such a hit in Melbourne that it completely sold out, I just know Sydney will embrace the show with spectacular enthusiasm.
& Juliet sets out to flip the script on arguably one of the biggest romantic tragedies of all time…. asking what would happen next if Juliet hadn’t ended it all over Romeo, and got a second chance at life and love – on her own terms.
