During last week’s media call for the ongoing Gold Coast exclusive season of Billy Elliot the Musical, I got a few minutes to speak with Ben Trigger, the actor who portrays the colourful character of Mr Braithwaite, the accompanist for Mrs. Wilkinson’s ballet classes. Does the name Ben Trigger ring a bell? For many, they first came to prominence during America’s Got Talent 2019 where their moves not only enchanted the judges but also saw him obtain a Golden Buzzer… even if that buzzer was hit by himself rather than any of the judges. However, for others they may be best known for his role in burlesque productions which have appeared at fringe festivals and other venues over the years, including Swamplesque (A parody of Shrek) and The Stripsons (A parody of The Simpsons).
