With the game’s 6 October 2023 release date drawing closer, Bandai Namco Entertainment has confirmed that pre-orders have now opened for Sword Art Online: Last Recollection, their latest RPG based on Reki Kawahara’s acclaimed Sword Art Online light novel series, which over the years has expanded to manga, multiple anime and animated feature film works, and yes, video games.
Those who pre-order the game will receive a small bonus in the form of the Black Swordsman Skins set, which is unique apparel for this new adventure, that “fans will recognize from the anime”.
Shared with this news, a new trailer (above) unveils more about the relationship and situations our heroes find themselves into. As Kirito and friends venture through the Dark Territory, they’ll discover that the inhabitants are not as hostile as they first thought, and new alliances will help them overcome any obstacles. However, a newly formed bond of trust will be put to the test, in the midst of raging battles and dire circumstances, the stakes are high for the Underworld.
Developed by Aquria and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Sword Art Online: Last Recollection is currently in development for the PlayStation 5 both digitally and physically, and as a digital-exclusive on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC.
