Square Enix Announce New Horror Mystery-Adventure Game - Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo 1

Stepping back into the horror genre with a new IP, Square Enix today announced they have been working on a “new and exciting single-player, supernatural mystery-adventure” called PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo, which is scheduled to be released first on the Windows PC via Steam starting 8 March 2023, and a day later on the Nintendo Switch. The game marks one of Square Enix’s first forays into the 2D visual novel genre of gaming in recent times.

Set during the Showa Period (1926-89) in Tokyo’s Sumida City, Honjo, PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo is a multi-layered collection of spine-chilling ghost stories centred around several protagonists who possess the “power of curses”. Playing from the viewpoint of a number of cursed characters, players will investigate the mysteries of Honjo. During the day players will explore mysterious areas of the city, solve puzzles and find new clues to help them unravel the mysteries behind these seven deadly curses. Come nightfall, they’ll hunt or be hunted by other curse bearers. Players will have to master control of their own powers while working out how not to fall foul to the predations of those held by others during this supernatural ordeal.

PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo boasts environments taken from real-life scenery captured using a 360-degree camera. This was done with full-cooperation and support of the Sumida City Tourism Division, the local museum, the tourist association, and the local community.
