Greycat STU (Sports Terrain Vehicle) Sales Commence in Star Citizen, Available to Drive In-Game

While many of the game’s more impressive crafts have the capability to take to the stars and traverse long distances, what about when you need to travel shorter distances by land? A small but growing number of vehicles in Star Citizen are purely land-based, the latest being the newly released Greycat SVU (Sports Terrain Vehicle) or Greycat Sport, a revised and arguably sleeker version of the Greycat PTV (Personal Transport Vehicle) which has been available in-game for a while now. As a surprise announced from developer Cloud Imperium Games today, backers can now pledge towards the Greycat SVU, and use it in-game immediately.

The STV is here - a sports vehicle built by pros for pros that takes the industry-proven usability of Greycat and opens the door to adventure. Work or play, travel the toughest terrain with the freedom to follow your own path. Climb in and get comfortable. This is your time to enjoy.

With a max speed of 40m/s and supporting a crew of up to 2 players, the main feature of this craft is that it includes 2x hand boxes (0.25 SCU), giving you the ability to store harvested goods, ammunition, medical supplies, and more. Fuirthermore, it boasts a weapons rack in-case things get a little bit dicey out there.

In Australia w/ the 10% GST, the STV will set you back $38.50 USD as a Warbond version (using all cash), or $44.00 USD for the standard version (using a mix of cash and store credit).

In total, there will be four paint options that are available for the Greycat SVU, the default Factory Standard, darker cobalt grey, electric green and blue steel. Each paint job will set you back $3.00 USD, excl. tax – although the later is only available to members of the Chairman’s Club (Those who back at least $1,000 USD).

In development by Cloud Imperium Games and their studios across North America and Europe, Star Citizen is being helmed by Wing Commander (1990s) creator Chris Roberts. The game has currently been in a long-term alpha phase with no confirmed release date. Despite this, the studio has raised more than $435 million USD through on-going crowdfunding. Please keep in mind should you decide to purchase towards Star Citizen, that this is an incomplete project and that you are pledging towards an extended crowdfunding campaign with no 100% guarantee of a finished product.
