[UPDATE: Possibly Old News, Link Been Around since 2011] Valkyria Chronicles III: Unrecorded Chronicles US Release Page Opened on Play-Asia, Mistake or Actual Plans for Release?

EDIT: The same URL of the page has popped up in numerous articles since early/mid 2011 although has only recently again emerged. However, here is hoping there is some possibility of a release!

While Valkyria Chronicles I and II were released internationally on the Playstation 3 and Playstation Portable respectively, there was never any release of the third game in the series which was initially released in early-2011 by SEGA throughout Japan.

While there was no word on if there would ever be an international release by SEGA to this day, online retailer Play-asia have hinted that there may be a release coming sooner rather than later. Via a product page HERE, they list the game as announced with Pre-orders opening soon and a tba release date. The most interesting point however is that they have identified the region as being US – rather than a Japanese edition and a different English language description than the brief one they have out on the Japanese edition page.

To compare details:

JAPAN

The new story takes place in the fictional Europe in 1935, the same as the very first game of the franchise. The background is the same, but this time the story unfolds from a different stand point. At times, you will fight together with the “Squad 7” members, or see the cadets of the Royal Lanseal Academy in their younger days. If you are a Valkyria fan, you won’t be able to take your eyes off the story full of such attractive characters.

ENGLISH

• The new Valkyria focuses on Gallia’s Squad 422, aka “The Nameless”. See the story unfold with “The Nameless”, the worst vindicatory squad made up of those with a dark background, such as culprits, deserters, war junkies, etc. Is there any chance of hope for those that lost their pride and name…? Don’t miss the sorrowful but enchanting story in the epic world of Valkyria
  .
• The “BLiTZ” system has been popular through the franchise for its innovative battle system with the fusion of strategy and action, and now it is back even more advanced! We now have an even more realistic war experience, with the incredible battles against gigantic enemy weapons and events occurring real-time in the middle of battles. Each character will also have special skills, and the new system will allow you an even greater variety of strategies

“Senjou no Valkyria” is an epic series of Active Strategy RPG which illustrates various stories of human drama amidst the extreme times of war. The game features a graphical technology called “CANVAS” with a warm hand-drawn effect and the innovative “BLiTZ” battle system which allowed the fusion of strategy and action.

The first game was released in 2008 as a PlayStation® 3 title and recorded a great hit worldwide. It also expanded to other media such as the TV anime in 2009, and the Valkyria franchise has been supported by many fans. The second game for PlayStation® Portable, “Senjou no Valkyria 2: Gallian Military Academy” was released in 2010 and the world of Valkyria has been better than ever.

Will we finally see a release of Valkyria Chronicles III or is this just a mistake? Keep an eye out for an announcement by SEGA soon! Either way, Udon Entertainment will be releasing an artbook for the game in December 2012, which you can read more about in my previous article “Udon Entertainment to Release Valkyria Chronicles 3: Complete Artworks This December“.
