The Yakuza series have always offered a sizable amount of content to detract you from the main storyline, from karaoke to managing and attending host clubs. With Yakuza 5, Studio Yakuza and Sega intend on altering things a bit by giving each character character-specific gameplay events “Another Drama” which provides separate side stories and a means of playing the game that has not been offered before. With five characters in the game, four of these events have been announced so far – for Kazuma Kiryu, Taiga Saejima, Haruka Sawamura and newcomer Tatsuo Shinada.
Kazuma is now acting as a taxi driver in Fukuoka – and one day he comes into contact with a group known as Devil’s Killer. This group takes part in street races and Kazuma ends up taking part in these race battles on the highways of Fukuoka. Additionally, you will be able to both customize your taxi and in your off-time, transport passengers with your vehicle. Haruka on the other hand takes a very “The Idolm@ster” route and wants to become an idol, entering the Princess League in Osaka. This means you will be undertaking rhythm games with her which involve button presses while she dances and sings to the music (To be honest she has enough experience considering how prominent karaoke has been in previous games). Outside of this she does other idol activities.
Taiga is stuck in the snowy mountains of Hokkaido. His activity is a hunting/survival game where he must use his weapon to capture wild animals. Finally we have new character Tatsuo who will have baseball and batting related mini-games.
The following is a mixed bag of screenshots for all four characters. There is currently no information on what Akiyama will have as his “Another Drama” event.
