Siren Visual, one of the major distributors of anime to the Australian and New Zealand markets may have been a bit quiet over the last couple of weeks, however have come back with two brand new anime acquisitions which suits their company well given previous releases, including another ANZ Region exclusive!!! These two new announcements are (Descriptions sourced from MyAnimeList, Comments sourced from Siren Visual Announcement):
Shiki
What Siren Visual Says
Looking for a sinister series ala Higurashi? This one will satiate your rural horror itch. More twisted than a broken slinky, Shiki is set to blow this year’s dual-language anime releases into the ether. Yes, it’ll have a dub. We’ve managed to secure this one on Blu-ray, too. Don’t ask us how, it just happened! Sometimes what you don’t know is for your own good. Stay tuned…
About the Series
During a fiercely hot summer in Sotoba, a peaceful and quiet village with a population of 1300 people, a series of bizarre deaths begin to occur. At the same time, a strange family moves into a long abandoned mansion in the region. After supposedly visiting this strange family, the fashionable Shimizu Megumi goes missing and the entire village goes out in search for her.

Thermae Romae
What Siren Visual Says
Another in our noitaminA range, this short historical comedy series comes with extra weird-sauce. A time travelling Roman architect stuck for ideas ends up in a modern-day Japanese bath-house and learns a lot about male hygiene. Better believe it!
Totally obscure and oddball in practically every sense, Thermae Romae is another exclusive Region 4-only noitaminA release from Siren and will be released along with a slew of extras.
About The Series
The story is a comedy about Lucius, an architect of public bath houses in ancient Rome, who time-travels to various modern-day baths in Japan. The author explores the two cultures in the world “that have loved baths the most: the Japanese and the Romans.
So When Can I Pick this Up These Up?
Shiki
Part 1 – August 2012
Part 2 – To be confirmed at a later date
Thermae Romae
July 2012
Ahh, why won’t you acquire ef – a tale of memories Siren? My heart aches the more I wait for that announcement.
Not really familiar with either of these series’, but eh, more power to them.
Shiki sounds pretty interesting, however while I have heard some good things about
Thermae Romae, I am not all too familiar with it and there are perhaps other noitaminA series that might gauge more excitement from anime fans (Anohana would be a great noitaminA series that should be popular or Wandering Son if they wanted an exclusive). But hey, I am based it all on the fact I havent really heard of Thermae Romae before, and am open to trying it out (and hopefully it being great).
I would love to see ef – a tale of memories released as well!
