With every two pokemon games that have been released, Game Freak / The Pokemon Company have always released a third game with improved content… with Pokemon Red/Blue it was Yellow with tie-in’s to the anime and the ability to obtain all three starter pokemon, with Pokemon Gold/Silver it was Crystal which introduced the female main character, plot improvements and so forth. While there was word that we would be seeing Pokemon Gray announced and released at some point this year… it turns out they will be doing something different this time around. Junichi Masuda from Game Freak appeared on the Sunday morning show Pokemon Smash to announce the next pokemon RPG title… but came with not one but two game announcements.
Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 were announced. So instead of just the one game it turns out they will be doing sequels for both of the original games – a first for the franchise. Not much in terms of specifics have been announced for the game such as if you will be able to carry over your original character to the new game or if it will be a completely separate plot or the names of any new Pokemon, new features or new rival teams. HOWEVER, I can report that the game is being released on the Nintendo DS sometime this June.
The games teaser website is now open HERE.
