Before I begin I would just like to inform those who may have missed the great news late last year that Sumioni has been licensed for distribution internationally by the folks at XSEED Games. The release date for this version is unknown but slated for some time in 2012. Now to the story at hand.
In Sumioni, Acquire’s latest Playstation Vita game that you play as an Ink Demon whose magic power is ink and has been tasked with saving the 2D side-scrolling world from evil. The company has recently revealed a bit more about the game in terms of just how you will complete this task. At least one of your main objectives is to save the Princess of Light (Light Princess?) from the evil that plagues the land but setting out to do so is only half your problem.
The game has multiple endings caused by branching paths which may allow you to save the girl or (Going from what usually happens), either failing to or deviating from the path entirely. While there may be some element of choice in the matter, what is known is that upon clearing a stage you are presented with a star rating based off your clear time and damage taken. Depending on how many stars you recieve will determine what path you take – assumingly that the best way to guarantee a good ending is to complete the stages well. An example of how they have planned out this system is below:
In Japan, the game is due for release in early-February, hopefully I will have some more information for you soon relating to XSEED Games’ release of the title.
