During the Sydney and Melbourne seasons of Matilda the Musical, the lead role of Miss Honey has been portrayed by Elise McCann. During the most recent Sydney Theatre Awards, she took out the title of ‘Best Supporting Actress in a Musical’ for her portrayal of the warm and approachable teacher. But it seems like McCann’s journey with the show will conclude on the Princess Theatre stage.
It has today been confirmed that Lucy Maunder will take to the stage as Miss Honey during the show’s Brisbane and Perth seasons. This will follow her taking on the much harsher role of the “Demon Queen of High School” Heather Chandler in Heathers the Musical. I look forward to seeing what she brings to the role of Miss Honey when Matilda the Musical begins at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) in November.
