Earlier this month it was announced that Higurashi no Naku Koro ni would be receiving a PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita port, reminiscent of the ones previously released for Umineko no Naku Koro ni.
Being released by Kaga Create, this edition will feature the arcs that many will be familiar with from the anime / manga / sound novel releases in addition to a few others that have been produced over the years. Other new features commissioned for this port includes full voice acting, new CG artwork and additional scenes. Titled Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sui (- The Best -), it is set to hit store shelves in Japan beginning March 2015.
In more recent news, Kaga Create have confirmed via their official Youtube channel that they will be using both the opening sequences present in Higurashi’s original Japanese release. The first opening features Nageki no Mori (嘆きノ森) and the second by Complex Image (コンプレックス・イマージュ), both performed by Ayane. These can both be viewed below:
MangaGamer, who have been responsible for the English distribution of Higurashi: When They Cry are currently working on a Steam port with completely unique graphics with the original eight arcs. There is no word if they are considering a localization of this new console release.
