Silent Hill f to Launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC This September

Konami has confirmed that Silent Hill f, the next standalone entry in its long-running psychological horror franchise, will launch for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox series X|S on Thursday, 25 September 2025. Pre-orders for the game are now available via the PlayStation Store and other digital storefronts.

Set in 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f introduces players to Shimizu Hinako, a high school student from the fictional town of Ebisugaoka. When her once-familiar hometown becomes blanketed in thick fog and begins to morph into a surreal, decaying nightmare, Hinako must navigate her shifting surroundings, solve puzzles, and fight for survival – all while confronting choices that may determine her ultimate fate.

The development team behind Silent Hill f has emphasised a thematic focus on “finding the beauty in terror,” with this concept influencing the game’s visual style, storytelling, and gameplay. The narrative is penned by writer Ryukishi07, best known for his work on the When They Cry series, including all arcs in the Higurashi and Umineko instalments, and features a fusion of Japanese folklore and psychological horror.

Other key creative contributions include monster designs by artist kera, blending traditional Japanese horror motifs with the eerie hallmarks of the Silent Hill series. The game’s music is composed by Akira Yamaoka and Kensuke Inage, who aim to merge nostalgic tones with a fresh audio identity befitting the new setting.

Players will explore a detailed and atmospheric recreation of 1960s Japan, designed to take full advantage of modern hardware. Those playing on the PS5 Pro can also look forward to an Enhanced Graphics Mode, which maintains a stable framerate while delivering greater visual fidelity.

Gameplay elements extend beyond combat and exploration. Puzzle-solving in Silent Hill f is closely tied to the emotional and psychological experiences of its protagonist, incorporating cultural references such as scarecrows to deepen the connection between story and gameplay. Combat, meanwhile, leans more heavily into melee encounters, offering a more action-oriented experience compared to the recently revealed Silent Hill 2 remake.

While Silent Hill f is a standalone entry intended to be accessible to newcomers, it will also feature nods and Easter eggs for long-time fans of the series.
